Nochi, a black jaguar (Panthera onca), is the newest addition to the ZWF family. These large fascinating cats are known as the largest feline in the Americas. They come in many different colors and hunt generally in the night. Although Nochi is a black jaguar, jaguars themselves are never black. They normally are darker in color, but if you look closely, you can still see the common jaguar spots.
Unlike most felines, jaguars love water, and are in fact really good swimmers. They tend to be good fishermen, and eat small alligators, turtles, fish, and they hunt deer, capybaras, and peccaries. When hunting on land, they are known to climb trees and actually ambush their prey, hopefully killing it in one fatal swoop. They generally grow to be up to around 250lbs (113kg), its head and body can grow to be as long as 6ft(1.8m) and their tails can be as long as 36in (91cm).
